Darci Madden defends clients against class actions, complex business litigation, and product liability suits. She has represented clients against claims alleging defects in medical devices, suits arising under federal and state antitrust laws and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, class action claims arising out of a variety of health insurance-related issues, and shareholder derivative suits. She has conducted motion and trial practice in multiple state and federal courts across the country. She represents clients from a broad range of industries including medical devices, agribusiness, health care, financial services, and insurance.

As a founding member of the firm's Electronic Discovery Unit, Ms. Madden has lectured on the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure relating to disclosure of electronically stored information. She serves on the Associate Training Committee and the St. Louis office Mentoring Program Committee. She is also a member of the national steering committee for Bryan Cave's women lawyers' affinity group, BC Women.

Ms. Madden is licensed in Missouri and Illinois, as well as in a number of federal district and appeallate courts. She is an active member of DRI and the DRI Drug and Medical Devices Committee, as well as the Federal Bar Association.

  • Regularly handles class actions for clients in the health care, pharmaceutical and medical device fields, including Aetna, Byram Healthcare, Rehabcare, Smith & Nephew, and Sigma Aldrich
  • Global Brass & Copper, Inc. v. Olin Corporation (Case No. 11-07837, S.D.N.Y.) - Successfully represented a commercial plaintiff in a dispute over indemnity obligations for workers' compensation claims governed by a complex purchase agreement
  • Obtained summary judgment in favor of PNC Bank on claims brought by 99 plaintiffs alleging bank breached contractual and other obligations in connection with a later-discovered Ponzi scheme
  • Obtained judgment in a series of class actions relating to Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities alleging that the custodian of self-directed individual retirement accounts invested with Madoff Investment Securities its contracts with customers and breached common law duties owed to customers by failing to protect the assets
  • Co-leader of the team that successfully defeated the certification of a multi-state class in an indirect purchaser action arising out of the methionine antitrust litigation
  • Successfully represented client in a series of class action lawsuits relating to the sales of title insurance and related products, alleging violations of RESPA and various consumer fraud statutes
  • Obtained judgment for large St. Louis based client of a series of ERISA lawsuits seeking pension benefits for a putative class, including several successful appeals
