St. Louis Partner Charlie Weiss has been named an honoree in Missouri Lawyers Weekly’s 2018 ICON Awards. The inaugural ICON Awards recognize 25 attorneys from across the state for their notable, sustained success and strong leadership within and outside the field of law.
A fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL) and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, Weiss has a deep commitment to the legal profession. He was a member of the ACTL’s Missouri State Committee for 2017-18 and also a member of the ACTL’s Access to Justice and Legal Services Committee for 2017-18. In addition, Weiss was a member of the American Bar Association’s Working Group on Building Public Trust in the American Justice System for 2017-18.
Weiss is a past recipient of the Spurgeon Smithson Award from the Missouri Bar Foundation for his outstanding contributions to the legal profession and is a past recipient of the St. Louis Bar Foundation Spirit of Justice Award, The Missouri Bar Pro Bono Publico Award and the Midwestern Innocence Project Award, among numerous other honors. Weiss also is a past president of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, The Missouri Bar and the St. Louis Bar Foundation. He is one of the founding members of the Missouri Coalition for Right to Counsel and in 2017 was awarded the Missouri Public Defender Director’s Award.
Weiss has more than 40 years of experience in business and complex litigation representing numerous Fortune 500 companies in significant matters. He has handled cases at both the trial and appellate levels, having appeared in more than 30 federal district courts around the country and in seven circuits of the Federal Courts of Appeals, the Federal Court of Claims and the United States Supreme Court. He also has more than 40 years’ experience in government contract matters and has represented clients in disputes involving numerous construction projects.
The 2018 ICON Awards will be presented at the inaugural ICON Awards luncheon, set for June 1 at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis. Honorees also will be profiled by Missouri Lawyers Weekly on May 28. For information on the event or to purchase tickets, click here.
