A long-term pro bono case recently decided by the Missouri Supreme Court has brought attention from numerous national media outlets. Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner’s work to free client David Robinson was featured in print, radio and TV news, notably May 14 and 15 on “CBS this Morning.” Citing constitutional violations, on May 1 the court overturned Robinson’s murder conviction and ordered his release from prison after 17 years of wrongful imprisonment. State prosecutors then dropped all criminal charges against him. Yet Robinson remained in prison. The case finally came to an end when BCLP filed an emergency petition to have Robinson freed on May 14, and Robinson was released hours later. St. Louis Partner Charlie Weiss, part of Robinson’s defense team, was interviewed by “CBS this Morning” on May 14, and Associate Jonathan Potts was interviewed May 15, upon Robinson’s release. Other key team members have included St. Louis Counsel Steve Snodgrass and former Associate Jim Wyrsch.
