Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner’s Paris office will host a compliance debate Nov. 8 on ethics and competitiveness in a globalized world. Special guest speakers will be Michel Sapin, the minister responsible for the new Sapin II compliance regulations, and Bruno Fontaine, the general counsel of Crédit Agricole Corporate & Investment Bank.
Sapin II, which came into force on June 1, 2017, for the first time stipulates under French law an obligation for companies to implement comprehensive measures to prevent and detect acts of corruption or influence peddling in France or abroad.
These changes create new challenges for businesses in France. How should you redefine defense strategies in a globalized legal and criminal risk environment? Are some markets best abandoned and left to less scrupulous competitors? Can you recruit leaders to high-risk positions? How can you manage the multiplicity of foreign regulators?
A BCLP team including White Collar Defense & Investigations Partner Constantin Achillas, Counsel David Père and Senior Associate Cécile Terret will join Sapin and Fontaine to address these questions and others facing businesses under Sapin II regulations.
This event takes place from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Salon Etoile Wagram.
