London office Managing Partner Carol Osborne, a partner in Bryan Cave’s Retail Team, was quoted Nov. 14 in The Times’ Brief (a daily legal newsletter produced by The Times newspaper). Bryan Cave’s Website Review Team, led by London Associate Nicola Conway, conducted a survey of 284 UK retail sites between Sept. 26 and Oct. 26 and revealed that each and every website failed to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which comes into force on May 25, 2018. “Customer data is at the core of a retailer's business and the incoming changes in data privacy laws will have significant ramifications for these businesses,” Osborne commented. “The worst case scenario is that previously collected customer data will be unavailable for use after May 2018 without risking substantial fines.” Click here to read the full article.
