St. Louis, Nov. 10, 2016 – In a move designed to help law departments of all sizes obtain access to award-winning innovation, international law firm Bryan Cave LLP has announced the creation of BCXponent, a new division focused on delivering practical solutions for law departments.
Over the past decade, Bryan Cave has partnered with several clients to solve some of the toughest challenges faced by law departments, including using process, technology and analytics to reduce the cost and risk of litigation, to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of commercial contracting, and to enable companies to be “diligence ready” at any time. The innovative and practical nature of these solutions has been recognized with numerous awards including the 2016 ACC Value Challenge Award and multiple “Most Innovative Law Firm of the Year” designations from ILTA.
“As an early-stage technology company, we are delighted to see Bryan Cave form BCXponent to help productize these solutions and make them accessible to companies of all sizes," added Matthew Smith, CEO of Fathym, Inc. "Our business has benefited tremendously.”
BCXponent’s multidisciplinary team includes professionals with deep experience in law, computer science, actuarial science, probability and statistics, business management and project management – all of whom have hands-on experience in solving real problems for law departments. The group is co-led by Chief Practice Economics Officer Chris Emerson and Chief Innovation Officer Katie DeBord.
“We look forward to taking the pioneering work that we have done for select, early adopted clients and making it broadly accessible to law departments of all sizes,” said Bryan Cave Chair Terry Pritchard. “In today’s digital world, clients rightly expect law firms to up their game and deliver business-oriented solutions that generate real value.”
“Bryan Cave offers unique capabilities,” said Michael Kaplan, GC of Red Robin. “They worked with us to build a complete solution that included not only legal advice, but also the processes and technologies necessary to put that advice into action. Their work has contributed to improving how our law department functions and the value we deliver to the business. The formation of BCXponent will only increase their capabilities in this area.”
