Miami Partner Pedro J. Martinez-Fraga and Associate Giovanni Angles will present at the 2016 Conferencia Latinoamericana de Arbitraje in Miami, Fla. Bryan Cave is sponsoring the program, which is in its eighth year.

Angles will moderate the first panel June 20 on implied powers of arbitrators. Martinez-Fraga will speak the following day on a panel regarding third parties in arbitration (liquidators, trustees, receivers and interventores). Other panels will address appellate review in arbitration and transparency in the administration of arbitration.

Martinez-Fraga is the co-leader of Bryan Cave’s International Arbitration Team. On Dec. 16, 2015, President Barack Obama appointed him as one of four U.S. delegate members to the Panel of Conciliators of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (World Bank). Martinez-Fraga has represented eight countries as lead counsel and has served in ICSID proceedings. He has published more than 50 articles in 15 countries, which have been translated into five languages, and has written seven books on public and private international law.

Angles focuses his practice on international arbitration and complex commercial litigation. He acts as counsel in international commercial and investment treaty arbitrations under the major arbitration rules. He also has broad and substantive pretrial litigation experience in state and federal courts, including pre-suit investigation, pleadings, written discovery, expert discovery and depositions. He has represented individual and corporate clients in the luxury goods, hospitality, banking, food and telecommunications industries. 

The program is organized jointly with the Miami International Arbitration Society and supported by the American Association of Private International Law. Miami Partner Ryan Reetz currently serves as the chair-elect of the Miami International Arbitration Society.
