Nearly 90 lawyers of color attended the biannual firmwide meeting of Bryan Cave’s Lawyers of Color Affinity Group, June 9-10 in Chicago. Lawyers attended from all of the firm’s U.S. offices as well as London and Paris.

The robust agenda included a two-hour workshop on business development skills presented by Deborah Knupp, an outside facilitator who has coached lawyers and executives internationally for more than 25 years. Dr. Arin Reeves, noted as a preeminent speaker, researcher and adviser on diversity and inclusions issues, presented an hour-long program on implicit bias. The event included a strategic planning session for the group to develop and refine its objectives and implementation plans for 2016-2017.

Chicago Partner Rodney Perry and DC Partner Donna Rodney (Lawyers of Color Affinity Group co-leaders) were the meeting conveners. Others on the planning committee included Santa Monica Associate Nicole King; Chicago Associate Merili Seale; and Chief Diversity Officer Lisa Martin. Chief Marketing Officer Kathleen Flynn, Director of Practice Development Julie Brueggemann, and Senior Marketing Manager Sam Katz also were integral to the planning and success of the meeting.

Firm Chair Therese Pritchard participated in the meeting and addressed the group. Others from firm management in attendance included Mark Leadlove, Karen Fries, Eric Prezant and Bruce Duffield.
