St. Louis Partner Arindam Kar has earned the 2016 Alumni Service Award from The University of Iowa College of Law.
Iowa Law’s annual alumni awards program recognizes those who have made significant achievements in their careers and in their service to the College of Law. The Alumni Service Award is specifically given for significant service to the college, university or community. Kar is only the eighth recipient of this award.
Kar is deeply involved in numerous community organizations, including the United Way of Greater St. Louis, the YMCA and the International Institute of Metropolitan St. Louis. Kar also is part of the Bryan Cave tutoring program at Sigel Elementary and he is an alum of the most recent FOCUS St. Louis Leadership St. Louis class.
Kar’s work with the YMCA and other community organizations to support the revitalization of the near northside of St. Louis, his service in securing asylum for Syrian clients and his work with the International Institute in resettling more than 1,000 refugees in the St. Louis area all were highlighted at the Oct. 2 awards ceremony in Iowa City.
At Bryan Cave, Kar is chair of the firm’s Thought Leadership Springboard Program, chair of the St. Louis Office Recruiting Committee and the immediate past co-chair of the Lawyers of Color Affinity Group. His active antitrust practice encompasses compliance, counseling, investigations and litigation.
