The Kansas City office of Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner helped revive the Kansas City chapter of the Society for Corporate Governance by organizing and hosting its annual meeting on Nov. 30. Kansas City Partner Vicki Westerhaus was asked by the national office whether she could help to restart the Kansas City chapter. Westerhaus accepted the challenge and updated the bylaws and recruited BCLP colleagues Kansas City Partner Greg Johnson and Paul William to join the chapter. She also identified and contacted potential officer candidates, then worked with the current Kansas City chapter officers to finalize the officer slate and date for the meeting.
In addition to the annual business meeting of approving bylaws and electing new officers, Kansas City Partner Elaine Koch, Vicki and John Pauls, general counsel of UMB Financial Corporation, participated in a panel discussion on the effects of the #MeToo movement on corporate governance and the workforce in general. Nearly 25 chapter members from leading Kansas City companies attended the meeting.
