The Irvine office and former office managing partner Stuart Price were featured Nov. 15 in The Wall Street Journal regarding the office’s 10-point code of civility.

The office created the code in 2013 in an exercise led by Christine Porath, a management professor at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and a leading researcher and author on workplace civility. In her work, Porath has found that promoting civility in the work environment causes employees to be far more engaged, creative and productive.

In the code, those who work in Bryan Cave’s Irvine office agreed to acknowledge the contributions of others, to treat each other equally and with respect “no matter the conditions,” to be direct, sensitive, and honest, to address incivility and more. “People support what they help create,” said Price. “We etched our code onto a granite plaque, but it is the participation of every single person in the office in writing it that will make it enduring.”
