Chicago Partner Greg Hummel and New York Counsel Roberta Gordon will present Oct. 16 at the 5th Annual Summit on Regional Competitiveness, co-hosted by the Alliance for Regional Development (Alliance) and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. This summit in Chicago, Ill., provides professionals involved in economic development, workforce, local government, higher education and business with the opportunity to interact with stakeholders, share best practices and learn about cutting edge initiatives aimed at growing the regional economy. Speakers from the Milwaukee, Chicagoland, NW Indiana corridor, New York and Washington, DC, will provide insight into infrastructure funding, the future of work, insights into repurposing real estate and more. Hummel and Gordon will co-present on social impact investing.

Hummel has more than 40 years of experience practicing law. He has acted as either underwriter’s or bond counsel for investment banks or municipalities providing infrastructure to master planned communities or undertaking brownfield redevelopment or other economic development and job creation activities. He represents states, territories, counties and municipalities in complex redevelopment or infrastructure projects or when he acts for major companies seeking incentives for new headquarters, distribution centers, call centers and R&D facilities. Hummel is a founder of the Alliance for Regional Development.

Gordon’s practice focuses on managing environmental risks in corporate, loan and real estate transactions, environmental insurance and brownfield cleanup. She has represented clients on the environmental aspects of business transactions, litigated environmental cases, and counseled clients on environmental compliance and remediation issues. Ms. Gordon also is President of a foundation focused on responsible and impact investing, and she is a Member of Investors’ Circle, an organization that works with investors and entrepreneurs to scale solutions to the world’s pressing challenges. She sits on the Board of Advisors for the Yale Initiative for Sustainable Finance and for the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy.
