Denver Partner Steve Gurr will speak at the ALI-CLE Eminent Domain and Land Valuation Litigation Conference, Jan. 25-27 in Charleston, S.C. Gurr will take part in the panel discussion “Strict Construction: How to Make it Work in the Courtroom,” in which participants will hear Steve describe the strategies underlying his successes in defeating condemnations, including the landmark 2016 eminent domain case before the Colorado Supreme Court holding that the Colorado Department of Transportation lacked condemnation authority to take client U-Haul’s property after Colorado’s Transportation Commission unlawfully delegated its condemnation power in 1994. Gurr concentrates his practice in the areas of complex real estate litigation, eminent domain disputes and construction law. His clients are national property owners and leaders in the development and construction of major transportation, resort, industrial, mixed use, and energy projects. Gurr has more than 26 years of trial, arbitration and appellate experience in state, federal and international forums. Gurr is the co-leader of Bryan Cave’s Eminent Domain Team.
