General Counsel Laura Giokas will join a diverse lineup of speakers Oct. 17-18 for the 2018 Advancing Women in Law Firm Leadership Conference. This inaugural event, presented by the Attorneys’ Liability Assurance Society (ALAS) in Chicago, is aimed at firm leaders, rising women leaders and diversity directors or partners.
The conference will include a series of interactive workshops, presentations and discussions to provide attendees with the tools, strategies and skills needed to advance women in law firm leadership roles.
As general counsel at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, Giokas manages and coordinates all firm-related legal matters. She also advises the firm on strategic and operational decisions and develops firmwide protocols and policies in the risk management area.
Prior to becoming general counsel, Giokas practiced in the firm’s Commercial Litigation Group, representing corporate clients in the areas of products liability defense, commercial litigation and employment litigation and advice. Her practice included the defense of products liability claims alleging personal injury and wrongful death. Giokas’ practice also included defending leading financial institutions against individual claims for violation of federal and state lending laws, mortgage servicing claims, and consumer protection and unfair competition claims.
The 2018 Advancing Women in Law Firm Leadership Conference is open to ALAS members only.
