Atlanta Partner Bill Custer was quoted Oct. 17 in the Daily Report regarding Hurricane Michael’s impact on Bainbridge, Ga., and surrounding cities. The hurricane reached Category 3 intensity with 115 mph winds, downing trees and damaging homes in South Georgia, where some counties have few lawyers. The largest need for legal services will be helping victims with insurance claims, Custer said. “I can’t describe how shattered the landscape is.”
The State Bar of Georgia and Georgia Legal Services are organizing efforts to assist those affected with related legal issues, including emergency benefit forms, identity card replacement, unemployment benefits and bankruptcy.
