Los Angeles and Shanghai Partner Evan Chuck will present at the 2016 GetGlobal conference, Oct. 19-20 in Los Angeles, Calif. Chuck will join the panel “Market Entry Legal: Playing a Defensive Game on Today’s Legal Risks.”

The conference offers sessions in international business development and marketing, international strategy and risk, high performance operations and mastering the global trading system. Chuck’s panel specifically will address:

  • Corruption
  • Lax views on intellectual property
  • How contracts are enforced
  • How lawsuits and appeals processes should factor into dealmaking at the outset
  • Whether the legal system of that country can be trusted to be efficient and impartial
  • Whether to select a third-party country for resolving legal disputes

Chuck leads Bryan Cave’s global International Trade Practice Group. He is also the firm's Shanghai office liaison and chief legal representative, having previously served as the managing partner of the firm’s Shanghai office for more than seven years. His practice focuses on international transactions, with significant emphasis on cross-border acquisitions, project development and government compliance in Asia. He has defended multinational companies in anti-bribery and customs investigations with various government authorities in Asia. He also counsels U.S. companies and their operations in Asia on compliance matters with respect to the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
