Bryan Cave LLP is sponsoring the first Data Breach & Privacy Litigation Conference organized by HB Litigation Conferences. Boulder Partner David Zetoony is co-chairing the Feb. 11 conference, which also features two Bryan Cave speakers. The all-day conference is designed for professionals on the plaintiff and defense sides of data privacy and security disputes.
San Francisco Partner Daniel Rockey will participate in the panel “What Makes a Good Case? Legal Theories in Recent Cases.” The panel will discuss the latest on common law claims of negligence, breach of contract, fiduciary duty, bailment and unjust enrichment, plus failure to comply with notification statutes and privacy laws.
New York and DC Partner Mary Beth Buchanan will participate in the panel “The Increasing Role of Government Enforcement & Regulation.” Buchanan, a former U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania, will discuss government enforcement and regulation at the state and federal levels as well as transnational challenges.
Other panels will address recent decisions as a barometer for the future of data breach litigation; recent settlements; insurance coverage; data breach litigation defenses and litigation against responsible third parties; and investigation and evidence collection in a cyber world.
Bryan Cave’s Data Privacy and Security Team, led by Zetoony, is composed of attorneys in Europe and the United States who work with companies in a variety of industries – including banks, health care providers, outsourcers and retailers – and focus on one thing: helping clients utilize customer data to increase opportunities and enhance user experience, all while decreasing corporate risks.
