Bryan Cave St. Louis Partner Powell Carman will moderate the panel “Doing Good and Doing Well: Industry, Government and Not-for-Profit Collaborations” at this year’s Ag Innovation Showcase, Sept. 11-13 in St. Louis. The annual event brings together thought leaders to focus on issues of predominant interest to both the agricultural industry and society as a whole.

Bryan Cave is a sponsor of the 2017 Ag Innovation Showcase. Presenters included top ag tech scientists and innovators from industry, investors, academia and economic development organizations.

Panelists will discuss how the path for creating partnerships that connect private and public sectors to drive commercial success is multidimensional. Aligning needs and technology with ideas doesn’t happen organically, it takes time and effort to identify each opportunity. The panel includes speakers from Blue River Technology, the U.S. Department of Energy, Valent BioSciences and the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center.

Agribusiness and Food Practice Co-Leader Carman counsels both private and publicly held clients on general corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital investments, strategic alliances, licenses, commercial agreements and other business issues. His practice focuses largely on clients in the life sciences, agribusiness, ag biotech and food industries. Carman’s transactional experience includes substantial acquisitions and divestitures for national and international biotech and agribusiness companies. He is also outside general counsel for a number of privately held companies and nonprofit organizations.
