Atlanta Partners Jennifer Dempsey and William Custer will be key speakers at the annual Georgia Bench and Bar Seminar on June 16th at 2:00 p.m. The two will present on recent developments involving the subject of Social Media Evidence and the Georgia Evidence Code. The seminar is a traditional and recurring feature of the Annual Meeting of the State Bar of Georgia which is taking place June 16-18 at Amelia Island. The seminar usually features an update on key litigation issues, this year handled by Ms. Dempsey and Mr. Custer, as well as a panel discussion involving both lawyers and judges.

The panel this year will consist of Judges Lawton E. Stephens of Athens, Judge Tilman E. “Tripp” Self of Macon, Jon F. Helton of Dublin, and Shawn E. LaGrua of Atlanta, as well as well-known lawyers Hugh McNatt, Christopher T. Clark, Jennifer Auer Jordan, and Susan W. Cox. During the panel discussion, it is anticipated that valuable practical tips will be given and that the customary smattering of war stories will be told which are designed to inform, entertain, and cast the teller’s own trial performance in an appropriate light.

Ms. Dempsey's practice includes representing clients in commercial tort actions, commercial contract disputes, insurance and surety litigation, financial institution litigation and class action defense in the courts and arbitration settings. Her experience often includes litigating on behalf of numerous financial institutions in complex litigation matters.

Mr. Custer has extensive experience representing corporate clients in a wide range of complex commercial litigation including disputes involving banking, insurance, and a variety of corporate transactions. Custer is a frequent speaker on legal issues and over the last several years has given seminars on such diverse topics as developments in Georgia evidence law, cybersecurity, social media evidence, the attorney-client privilege, e-discovery, and the art of negotiation.
