Speaker(s): Alan Appel
Sponsor(s): American Bar Association Section of Taxation
In recent years, European countries including The Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain and Luxembourg, have stood out as jurisdictions of choice to establish regional holding companies for Latin America. New York Senior Tax Consultant and New York Law School Professor Alan Appel will discuss holding company jurisdictions for investments in Latin America at a webinar hosted by the American Bar Association Section of Taxation.
On July 15, Appel will provide an update on the holding company tax regimes in select European countries, including an educated comparison for each of them when holding and conducting operations in Latin America.
Appel has been involved with the Tax Section for 30 years and is currently the council director overseeing the following committees: Foreign Activities of U.S. Taxpayers; Foreign Lawyers Forum; Transfer Pricing; and U.S. Activities of Foreigners and Tax Treaties.
In addition to consulting with Bryan Cave, Appel is a professor of law and director of the International Tax Program at New York Law School. Appel teaches courses in international tax planning, corporate taxation and the tax transactions clinic. At Bryan Cave, he consults on issues involving international and domestic tax planning involving taxation of mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures, limited liability companies and tax controversy matters.
