The Scott Solberg Pro Bono Award

Chicago Associate Carrie Byrnes has been recognized by the Legal Aid Bureau and the Pro Bono Committee of the Legal Aid Society for both her
pro bono service and her participation on the Associate Board of the Legal Aid Bureau. In recognition of Byrnes’ contributions, the Legal Aid Bureau will present Bryan Cave with the first annual Scott Solberg Pro Bono Award.
The award will be presented at the Legal Aid Bureau Avery Award Luncheon on Friday, Oct. 29. The Scott Solberg Pro Bono Award honors law firms or attorneys who display a strong commitment to the fundamental principles of equal protection and equal justice in the community through outstanding
pro bono service. The award is named after Scott Solberg, who has served as a board member and chair of the Legal Aid Society and chair of the Society’s Pro Bono Committee.
Byrnes focuses her practice in employee benefits, executive compensation and the management and investment of employee benefit plan assets. She has experience with a wide variety of compensation and benefits matters, has worked in fiduciary audit and compliance matters surrounding ERISA Title I and frequently advises and counsels clients on the investment of employee benefit plan assets. She has represented clients in connection with Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor audits of employee benefit plans and compliance programs, and in ERISA litigation matters dealing with claims for benefits, preemption and breach of fiduciary duties.
