Our People
Rebecca Jackson is a trial lawyer representing publicly held and closely held businesses in general business and commercial litigation, including class action and antitrust litigation, environmental disputes including insurance coverage disputes, enforcement actions and criminal actions, contract disputes, employment litigation and personal injury litigation.
Ms. Jackson has served as lead trial counsel in state and federal courts in southern Illinois. She defended three clients in 2,500 cases filed simultaneously in state court for personal injuries arising from exposure to asbestos. In addition, she has represented clients in numerous toxic tort cases in state and federal court and has been involved in the defense of civil and criminal environmental enforcement actions.

Quality Carriers, Inc. v. MJK Distribution, Inc., et al., (Reported decision S.D. Ill. No. 02-148, Judge Reagan.) –Obtained injunctive relief and damages for breach of contract and interference with business relationship

Pierson v. Miller, No. 98-MR-00171, Circuit Court, Madison County, Ill. – Successful defense in jury trial against claim by plaintiff for one-half of client’s lottery prize of $22,000,000

Vollmer v. Publishers Clearing House – Defended direct mail marketer in class action involving 40 million class members; denial of intervenor’s challenge to settlement affirmed by 7th Circuit, 248 F.3d 698 (7th Cir. 2001)

Brazinski v. Amoco Petroleum Additives – Defended action brought by employees seeking damages because of video surveillance. Case was removed from Madison County Illinois to S.D. Il and trial judge remanded case. Prosecuted successful mandamus action in the 7th Circuit. (In re Amoco Petroleum Additives Co., 964 F.2d 706 (7th Cir. 1992)). Defendant’s motion for summary judgment was subsequently granted in the District Court and affirmed on appeal. (Brazinski v. Amoco Petroleum Additives Company, 6 F.3d 1176, (7th Cir. 1993).

Conseco Entertainment, L.L.C. v. Hon. Daniel J. Stack, Judge of the Circuit Court of Madison County, Illinois Supreme Court No. 90428 – Obtained supervisory order from Illinois Supreme Court directing Judge Stack to vacate injunction entered in The Indiana Gaming Company v. Conseco Entertainment, No. 00-MR-411, Madison County Circuit Court, enjoining Conseco from pursuing litigation previously filed in Indiana state court

Willis Corroon v. Home Insurance Company, S.D. Il, 203 F.3d 449 (7th Cir.2000) – Represented insured in bad faith claim against insurer. Verdict for the plaintiff affirmed by the 7th Circuit

Gateway Western Railway Company v. Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis, No. 95-CV-429-PER – Defense of antitrust, contract and property claims. Trial Court granted partial summary judgment for defendant on all antitrust claims. Remaining count settled for less than projected cost of trial.

United States of America v. Laclede Steel Company, S.D. Il. No. 90-CV-03460-WLB – Defense of civil environmental enforcement action. Negotiated closure and favorable resolution of penalty

United States of America v. Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis, S.D. Il. No. 97-30061 – Representation of client in criminal enforcement action. Negotiated successful plea without individual indictments

James A. Bielicke v. Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis, Madison County Circuit Court No. 94-L-125 – Defended FELA claim in Madison County, Ill., which resulted in plaintiff’s verdict. Case was reversed after appeal to Fifth District
