Richard Schulman is a business litigator who concentrates on securities and other complex commercial matters. In the area of securities and business fraud, he has defended and occasionally prosecuted numerous securities fraud/RICO actions on behalf of issuers and promoters, directors and officers, accountants and attorneys, securities traders and analysts and institutional and private investors. He also has advised attorneys, accountants and public companies in investigatory proceedings by the SEC and has represented corporations investigating and, as appropriate, prosecuting officers and directors for fraudulent activity causing injury.

Representative Experience

Over the course of his career, Mr. Schulman has litigated cases involving a broad range of business issues, including:

  • contract disputes and other commercial disagreements
  • professional liability claims involving accountants and attorneys
  • insurance-related matters on behalf of insurance companies, insurance agencies and insureds
  • antitrust and trade regulation problems
  • intellectual property questions specifically involving trademark, trade dress and copyright infringement
  • product liability disputes, defending actions asserting liability with respect to products manufactured and sold by major corporations
  • computer hardware and software problems
  • employment discrimination suits, such as those alleging sexual harassment and discrimination
  • government regulation matters, and specifically court review of federal, state and local regulatory action
  • real estate disputes arising out of contested transactions and agreements
  • intentional tort and negligence claims
