Purchase, Sale and Relocation of Sports Teams
- Took a lead role in bringing NFL football back to St. Louis, including by designing and promoting the state legislation authorizing the financing and construction of a new facility suitable for professional football and the adjoining St. Louis Convention Center, drafting the stadium financing documents and operating agreements and the St. Louis NFL Lease, later amended to accommodate the St. Louis Rams, and representing the St. Louis Civic Progress companies in negotiating suite and club seat revenue guaranties required by the Rams to support their relocation to St. Louis
- Represented the current owners of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in their acquisition of the Angels from Disney
- Represented James Orthwein, previous owner of the New England Patriots of the National Football League, in connection with his acquisition of the team and subsequent sale to current owner Robert Kraft
- Represented the former ownership group (the St. Louis Civic Progress companies, a partnership of leading public and private companies headquartered in St. Louis) of the St. Louis Blues NHL Hockey Club in its purchase and subsequent sale of the team and the team’s arena.
- In two separate deals, represented the owners of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the sale of their minority ownership interests in the team
- Represented the owner of the NBA Phoenix Suns in the sale of his minority ownership interests in the team
- Represented the ownership group of the St. Louis Blues Hockey Club in negotiating a Consent Agreement with the National Hockey League in connection with the group’s acquisition of the St. Louis Blues team
- Supported efforts by the City of Kansas City to encourage the relocation of NBA and NHL professional franchises to the city, including by meeting with the NBA Commissioner and NHL Commissioner in support of such potential relocations
- Represented private buyers in connection with their efforts to acquire the St. Louis Rams of the National Football League
- Represented private buyer in connection with their efforts to acquire an ownership interest in the Denver Broncos
- Represented private buyer in connection with his effort to acquire the NHL Anaheim Ducks
