Don Samuels is a partner in the Denver and Los Angeles offices. His practice centers on all aspects of employment law, general civil litigation, and intellectual property law.

Mr. Samuels represents employers throughout the United States while holding licenses in Colorado, California, and Texas; his reputation is as a tough and fair litigator and a trusted client advisor, and he acts as an employment law arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. His background demonstrates his exemplary leadership and management capabilities.

Mr. Samuels started his legal career clerking for the Honorable William D. Keller in the Central District of California.

  • JBCD, LLC d/b/a Hair Color Experts of Parker v. Casey Olson and Divine Hair, LLC - Obtained permanent injunction enforcing non-competition agreement.
  • Becker v. Dish Network - Arbitration award in sexual harassment and retaliation due in favor of Defendant.
  • Andrews v. Central Parking System, Inc. – Summary judgment in favor of HRO’s client, Central Parking System, Inc. on all claims which involve race discrimination and race retaliation.  Summary judgment affirmed by the 10th circuit. 
  • San Francisco Newspaper Company, LLC v. Hugo Hernandez – Obtained permanent Restraining Order against defendant who was threatening a San Francisco Examiner employee.
  • Fasa Corporation and Virtual World Entertainment v. Playmates Toys, Inc. – Verdict in favor of Playmates Toys, Inc. on all claims which involved copyright and trademark issues.
  • Trejo v. Telemundo Affiliate – Arbitration Award in National Origin case in favor of all Defendants.
  • Patty Bonham and Dean Bonham, Plaintiffs v. Barbara Smith – Court determined that the debt was discharged and ordered opposing side and its attorneys to pay monies to HRO’s client.
  • Kaltenberg Marketing GMBH and Kaltenberg Castle Brewery v. Coors Brewing Company – Arbitration Award in favor of Coors Brewing Company involving a failed joint venture.
  • BC Natural Foods, LLC v. Jeff Hackney and Jeff Tripician – Granting of Temporary Restraining Order and preliminary injunction on behalf of HRO client based on the “inevitable disclosure” doctrine.
  • Saint John's Church in the Wilderness; Charles I. Thompson and Charles W. Berberich v. Ken Scott and Clifton Powell – A series of equitable cases in which HRO sought and obtained a temporary, preliminary, and permanent injunction. A first amendment case, the first of its kind in Colorado, involving the conflict between freedom of speech and freedom of religion.
  • Tidelands Oil Production Company v. Permian Enterprises, Inc. – Unanimous jury verdict in favor of HRO’s client, the Defendant, in connection with a failed cement-lined elbow in an oil field.
  • iTECH Fitness v. Robert Reid, et al. –  Granting of Temporary Restraining Order and Preliminary Injunction on behalf of our client based on misappropriation of trade secrets, unfair competition, and inevitable disclosure “doctrine.”
  • Mark Lipa v. Sheridan Healthcare, of Colorado, P.C. – Defended breach of contract action by terminated doctor. Case settled midway through trial.
