Meryl Macklin is a trial lawyer whose focus is in the area of complex commercial and business disputes. She is a partner in the San Francisco office and was the Chair of the Litigation Department of legacy firm HRO and a member of legacy firm HRO's Executive Committee. She has handled a wide range of business cases in state and federal courts nationwide, including intellectual property, contract and business tort disputes. The clients she serves have ranged from well-established public and private companies to start-ups in a variety of industries. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Macklin was a partner at law firms in Pittsburgh and Los Angeles.

Ms. Macklin was named one of California’s “Top Women Lawyers” for 2012 by the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journal. She was one of only 75 litigators to receive the honor. She was also recognized by the Daily Journal as one of the Top Women Litigators in California in 2008.

  • Lead attorney representing Union Pacific in successful 6-week jury trial against Kinder Morgan (Riverside County Superior Court).
  • Lead attorney representing Oracle Corporation in successful 10-week jury trial (San Francisco Superior Court).
  • Lead attorney representing Glendale Adventist Medical Center in dispute over medical office building; obtained summary judgment on all counts (Los Angeles Superior Court).
  • Lead attorney representing franchisor of auto repair services in successful trial against franchisee (Central District of California).
  • Obtained preliminary injunction and success at trial for German company in litigation against its former distributor in the United States for theft of trade secrets (Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of California).
