Megan Irwin's practice includes representing clients regarding compliance and permitting under federal and state environmental regulatory programs.  In particular, Ms. Irwin regularly counsels clients on issues arising under RCRA, CERCLA, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, NEPA, OSHA and MSHA.

Ms. Irwin serves clients in connection with development and implementation of complex environmental permitting, as well as environmental remediation projects, including coordination and management of environmental consultants. She also counsels clients regarding transactional matters, including environmental due diligence for high stakes mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, and lending transactions. Ms. Irwin drafts and negotiates environmental representations, warranties and indemnities, as well as escrow and holdback arrangements in connection with environmental liabilities. She also counsels clients on the procurement of environmental insurance for transactions with potential environmental liabilities.

Ms. Irwin has Arizona, Colorado and California state and federal court litigation experience with an emphasis on CERLCA/Superfund cost recovery and defense, environmental insurance coverage, and Prop 65 citizen suits. In connection with her litigation practice, Ms. Irwin works closely with technical consultants in development of expert testimony, including report preparation, document management, and all phases of discovery and expert witness preparation.  

Before entering the legal profession, Ms. Irwin was a civil engineer with a focus on environmental engineering and hydrology.  She worked as an engineer for a national civil engineering firm and as an environmental consultant for two international environmental consulting firms.
