Peter Van Cleve’s practice focuses in the area of business and transactional counseling. Mr. Van Cleve has extensive experience representing private equity firms and privately held businesses, and his work for these entities has included formation and structuring advice, capital raising assistance, mergers & acquisitions and corporate partnering.

Within Bryan Cave, Mr. Van Cleve is a Section Leader and a member of the firm's Management Committee, which manages the day-to-day worldwide operations of the firm. From October 2004 to April 2011, Mr. Van Cleve was Managing Partner of the firm's St. Louis office.

  • Served as counsel to management group in connection with employment and equity issues for middle-market leveraged buyout by private equity firm
  • Advised private equity firm in connection with significant minority position in pre IPO electronic data storage company and selling stockholder issues in connection with subsequent public offering
  • Provided succession planning for family-owned business
  • Provided formation and capital raising advice for online “virtual world” start-up
  • Assisted buyer in connection with acquisition of assets through bankruptcy proceeding Section 363 sale process
  • Advised public company Board of Directors in connection with tax-free spin-out of subsidiary
