Tara Newell is a partner in the Transactions Client Service Group and a co-leader of the Private Equity team.  Recognized for providing a practical, business oriented and solutions-based approach, she is regularly sought out to provide strategic advice to clients.  Tara counsels US and foreign-based public and private companies, including private equity funds, hedge funds and start-ups, on a wide range of topics, such as domestic and cross-border acquisitions and divestitures, joint ventures and strategic alliances, capital raises, corporate governance, compliance and general business matters.  Her clients operate in a variety of industries, including financial services, energy, insurance, health and beauty, media and entertainment, outsourcing, real estate and technology.

Due to her breadth of experience in both buy and sell side work, as well as her work with both strategic and financial clients, Tara knows the issues and pressure points on both sides of the negotiating table and can navigate them efficiently and effectively.  Her goal is to partner with each client, whether a technology start-up or a Fortune 500 company.

Tara is the co-leader of the leadership team of the firm's Women's Forum where she sets direction and participates in programs and initiatives, including mentoring and coaching programs, business development, networking and client events.  She is also the coordinator of the pro bono program for the New York office.

  • The stockholders of a privately held company that designs, markets and administers service contracts and warranties for new and used vehicles and acts as an agent for third party automotive finance and insurance vendors in the sale of the company to a financial buyer.
  • The stockholders of a privately held company that provides and administers vehicle service contracts, vehicle protection programs and related vehicle warranties offered primarily through automobile dealers in the sale of the company to a strategic buyer.
  • A privately held holding company that operates property/casualty insurance companies that underwrite specialized insurance for business in the company's acquisitions and divestitures.
  • A real estate opportunity fund in a joint venture for the development of a major hotel and gaming complex in Atlantic City.
