January 8, 2014
Bryan Cave is ranked among the top legal advisers for M&A work involving a U.S. target for 2013, according to recently released year-end data by Thomson Reuters.
The firm is ranked 6th based on the number of transactions completed involving a U.S. target, with 84 completed transactions during that period.
Thomson Reuters, recognized as maintaining the most comprehensive database available on mergers and acquisitions, noted in its full report that worldwide M&A was down 6 percent and deals worth more than $5 billion were down 18 percent for 2013. The value of worldwide M&A totaled $2.4 trillion for the year – a 6 percent decrease from comparable 2012 levels and the slowest annual period for global deal making since 2009. Just over 36,800 worldwide deals were announced during full year 2013, which was a 7 percent decline from a year ago and the slowest annual period for M&A, by number of deals, since 2005.
“The M&A marketplace continues to be challenging,” said St. Louis Partner Steven Baumer, head of the firm’s global Transactions Practice. “It is gratifying to see that clients turn to us with their complex transactions in the U.S. and worldwide.”
