Seasoned Attorney Strengthens Bryan Cave LLP’s Transactional Practice

ST. LOUIS, June 1, 2012 – The international law firm Bryan Cave LLP (www.bryancave.com) has announced that A. James Shafter is joining the firm’s St. Louis office as of counsel. He joins the firm from Archer-Daniels-Midland Company (ADM), where he served as vice president of mergers and acquisitions and vice president and assistant general counsel.

Shafter will practice with Bryan Cave’s Transactions and Technology, Entrepreneurial & Commercial Client Service Groups. In addition to mergers and acquisitions work, his practice will focus on general corporate matters, banking, corporate governance, governmental affairs and commercial and antitrust litigation.

Prior to joining ADM, Shafter served as managing partner of one of the oldest law firms in down state Illinois. Shafter received his J.D. from the University of Illinois and his B.A. from Southern Illinois University.
