Barkhorn Speaks at New York State Bar Association Trust and Estates Law Section Seminar

New York Counsel Karin Barkhorn will serve as a speaker at the upcoming New York State Bar Association Trust and Estates Law Section Seminar. Barkhorn will join a discussion of “Power of Attorney: Practice & Litigation Under the New Law.” This seminar, which will take place June 12 in New York, will feature opportunities for attorneys to earn CLE credit.

Barkhorn specifically will speak about issues related to gifting under the prior and current statutes, with a focus on making gifts with the New York Statutory Power of Attorney. She will also participate in a case study based on a hypothetical fact pattern involving a “nefarious agent.”

Barkhorn specializes in all areas of estate planning, estate administration and Surrogate’s Court litigation. She assists clients in predeath planning by structuring estate plans, drafting wills, revocable trusts, life insurance trusts, other lifetime trusts and charitable planning. She advises clients in connection with post-death estate administration and the litigation that frequently arises, including will contests and contested accounting proceedings.
