Bryan Cave LLP Associate Jason Hall Featured in Story on Gay Lawyers Association Formed in St. Louis

What started out as a small committee has evolved into the first St. Louis gay lawyers’ association; Lawyers for Equality. Bryan Cave LLP St. Louis Associate Jason Hall is president of the new group, which was featured in the Nov. 16 edition of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch
. Lawyers for Equality is an association that advocates for the rights of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community.
In the article, Hall noted that a big part of this is consciousness raising. “It’s easy for us to be marginalized in the legal profession,” he said. He also added, “We want to provide an independent legal voice.”
Also quoted in the article was Bryan Cave Partner and Director of Professional Development, Betsy Bousquette. “We think it’s great that Jason is taking a leadership role such as this one,” she said. “Diversity is one of the firm’s core values.
According to the article, the group anticipates having more than 100 members by its January public rollout. The group’s existing membership consists of current and former judges, attorneys, professors, law students, and other legal professionals. Some of the activities the group will initiate include surveying area lawyers about their treatment in law firms, examining issues such as discrimination and whether domestic-partnership benefits are provided.
