New Director of Government and Regulatory Affairs Joins Bryan Cave's Singapore Office

Bryan Cave is pleased to announce that Mun Pew Khong has joined the firm as director of government and regulatory affairs in the Singapore office.
With a career spanning 27 years in government at a senior level and representing the interests of a multinational corporation in one of the most highly regulated industries, Mun Pew joins us to spearhead our efforts in providing consulting solutions for our local, multinational and sovereign clients. His background in trade negotiations and access to governments in key markets in Asia, including Myanmar, Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam, makes Mun Pew a unique asset for our regulatory practice in Asia.
Mun Pew served with the Singapore government and was with the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Singapore Trade Development Board (now known as IE Singapore) for 16 years. His last position was director of trade policy with specific focus on Southeast Asia. He was also a member of the Singapore negotiating team for the ASEAN Free Trade Area, APEC and several Singapore bilateral FTA initiatives. Mun Pew served for four years (1996-2000) in Singapore’s diplomatic corps, as counsellor for commercial affairs with the Singapore Embassy in Indonesia. He was awarded the Administrative Medal at the 1998 National Day Award by the Singapore president for his service in Indonesia.
Prior to Joining Bryan Cave, Mun Pew spent 11 years with British American Tobacco (BAT) and was based in Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, London and Jakarta. In Hong Kong, Mun Pew was the area corporate and regulatory affairs director for East Asia covering Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Philippines and Taiwan. Concurrently, he was the general manager for the export markets of North Korea, Myanmar and Mongolia. He was based in BAT’s global headquarters in London covering international trade policy. He spent the last three years in Jakarta as chief corporate and regulatory affairs officer for PT Bentoel Group, the fourth-largest tobacco manufacturer in Indonesia, after BAT acquired the company in 2009.
