Mary McMath concentrates her practice in the area of estate planning. She assists clients in structuring and implementing estate plans for various estate sizes, with emphasis on estates with extensive assets. Such plans include drafting wills, revocable trusts and life insurance trusts, lifetime gifts and charitable planning. Ms. McMath also has experience designing and preparing personal residence income trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, grantor retained income trusts and family partnerships.

Ms. McMath has devoted considerable time to charitable work. She has assisted clients in establishing charitable trusts and family private foundations, and she has assisted organizations in obtaining tax-exempt status which has included controversies with the Internal Revenue Service. Additionally, Ms. McMath has assisted owners of closely held businesses with the transfer of their businesses from one generation of family ownership to another. Such planning has involved planning with life insurance with a special emphasis on split-dollar agreements.
