Recent examples of our work includes:
  • Advised International Mineral Resources BV on the acquisition of shares in Kermas South Africa (Pty) Limited (Kermas SA). Kermas SA is the holding company of Samancor Chrome Limited, one of South Africa’s largest chrome mining and smelting operations.
  • Advised Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation PLC (ENRC) on its $300 million acquisition of a 50 percent stake in Bahia Mineracao Limitada. ENRC is the world’s sixth-largest iron ore exporter. This deal represents the Kazakhstan mining group’s first venture outside the CIS.
  • Advised the principal shareholder of Rusal on the acquisition of 25 percent + 1 stake in Russian metals producer Norilsk Nickel.
  • Advised on a proposed joint venture with a Mongolian company and proposed acquisition of shares in a publicly traded company with mining operations in Mongolian on behalf of a Russia-based client.
  • Advised on a proposed privatization of coal mining and energy assets in the Republic of Montenegro, including power purchasing and water supply agreements.
  • Advised on investments in coal, uranium and other metal companies in Mongolia, including shareholder agreements and minority protections, restructuring and sales of interests for Basic Element companies.
  • Advised on anticorruption issues and drafting of appropriate compliance with law provisions in connection with privatization, investment and joint venture transactions in the mining industry.
