Missouri Bar Pro Bono Publico Award 2009

September 29, 2009

St. Louis Partner Charlie Weiss has been selected as one of the Missouri Bar’s Pro Bono Publico Award honorees for 2009. Each year at the bar’s annual meeting, individuals are recognized for their contributions to the legal profession and the administration of justice. The Pro Bono Publico Award is presented to three individuals who have provided outstanding pro bono service to indigent or low-income persons in need of legal assistance.

Weiss has long been involved in pro bono activities, having served for many years as a volunteer lawyer at Legal Services of Eastern Missouri and at a legal clinic for St. Bridget’s inner-city parish in St. Louis. More recently, Weiss led the pro bono effort that resulted in the exoneration of Joshua Kezer, who spent 16 years in prison for a crime he did not commit.

Weiss has more than 35 years experience in business and complex litigation, representing numerous Fortune 500 companies and other clients in significant litigation matters involving class action, intellectual property, federal and state securities law, antitrust and unfair competition, product liability, fraud, employment discrimination, insurance overage, state and federal constitutional law, Latham Act and false and misleading advertising, software development, legal and accounting malpractice and breach of commercial and government contracts.
