Lisa Martin's litigation practice concentrates on commercial and employment related matters. She has litigated a broad range of cases, including general commercial cases, unfair competition cases, class actions and ad valorem taxation disputes. Ms. Martin has experience defending corporate clients in employment-related litigation. She has been lead counsel in the defense of all types of employment discrimination litigation matters including age, sex, race, disability, sexual harassment, retaliation, the Family Medical Leave Act and ERISA. She also has defended clients in EEOC litigation and in pattern and practice suits alleging sex, age and race discrimination. In addition, she has broad experience conducting sexual harassment and other investigations, and has advised clients regarding compliance with various federal employment statutes, development and implementation of employee policies, including discipline, leave and termination.
Ms. Martin has tried cases in state and federal courts and in state administrative agencies. She has argued appeals in the Missouri Court of Appeals, Missouri Supreme Court and the Eighth Circuit.
Ms. Martin is certified as a mediator and mediates all types of commercial and employment related disputes. She is currently a mediator with United States Arbitration and Mediation and is a certified neutral for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.
Ms. Martin was a member of the firm’s Executive Committee from 2003 to 2005. From 1996 to 2003, she was a member of the firm’s Operating Group, with responsibility for the recruiting and professional development of the firm’s associates, as well as the firm’s diversity initiatives.
