Lucinda Althauser is a registered patent attorney. Her work includes the preparation and prosecution of patent rights in the fields of business methods, medical devices, biotechnology, and mechanical devices. In addition, Ms. Althauser counsels and represents clients on a variety of intellectual property matters including: intellectual property licensing; intellectual property due diligence in connection with mergers, acquisitions, divestures, investments made by venture capitalists, and secured loan transactions; patent validity and infringement issues; and management of intellectual property portfolios.
Ms. Althauser regularly advises clients on the availability of trademarks for use and registration, prosecutes and procures U.S. trademark rights, manages foreign trademark prosecution matters, and has represented clients in connection with trademark opposition proceedings before the U.S. Trademark Trial & Appeal Board.
Ms. Althauser’s undergraduate degree is in biochemistry. Prior to joining the intellectual property group, Ms. Althauser’s practice focused on complex estate and tax planning matters; she has authored and co-authored several articles and books on topics within that field.
