John Amberg’s litigation practice includes commercial litigation, product liability, probate and professional liability matters. Commercial litigation matters handled by Mr. Amberg have included antitrust, unfair competition, trade secret, intellectual property, securities and contract disputes. He has handled significant cases relating to corporate acquisitions, credit card processing, internet transactions, patent licenses and computer software services for the aircraft, banking, credit card, furniture, health care, real estate, retail, software, trucking and toy industries, among others.

Mr. Amberg also has defended the safety and effectiveness of a wide variety of industrial and household products, including aircraft, automotive parts, chemicals, computer software, drugs, furniture and fixtures, medical devices and gas heater controls. His drug and toxic tort experience includes experimental drugs and medical devices, as well as asbestos, chlorine, mold, sodium hypochlorite and chloroflurocarbons. Mr. Amberg’s product liability practice includes risk prevention counseling and training, advice on warning labels and instructions, indemnification and insurance.

Mr. Amberg has tried cases to verdict in state and federal courts throughout California. He is an arbitrator and mediator for the Dispute Resolution Service of the Los Angeles County Superior Court and the Los Angeles County Bar Association Mandatory Fee Arbitration Panel. He is also a former chair of the Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct of the State Bar of California and a member and former chair of the Professional Responsibility and Ethics Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Mr. Amberg represents attorneys and serves as an expert witness on professional liability, malicious prosecution, sanctions and legal ethics.
