Jennifer Brown focuses her practice on a wide range of commercial disputes, including consumer financial services litigation, corporate governance and general business disputes. Ms. Brown has experience defending clients in various federal and state courts against putative nationwide and statewide consumer financial services class action matters, including claims under the following statutes: Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Truth In Lending Act (TILA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), fair lending statutes, as well as unfair and deceptive acts and practices statutes (UDAP), including the California Unfair Competition Law.

Ms. Brown also has experience representing financial services clients in a variety of complex litigation matters involving lender liability, loan servicing related claims, and forced place insurance claims.

Ms. Brown was a member of the Georgetown University Criminal Justice Clinic while attending law school. At the University of North Carolina, Ms. Brown was a Morehead Scholar and the recipient of the Ferebee Taylor Award Recognizing the Principle of Honor and the Peter C. Baxter Memorial Prize in American Studies.

  • Represented a leading financial services company in defense of a putative class action alleging discrimination in loan origination practices at the trial and appellate court levels
  • Represented a financial services company in connection with a state attorney general investigation of alleged discriminatory loan origination practices, including securing successful dismissal of action on summary judgment
  • Represented a Massachusetts museum in connection with planned $100 million expansion, including successfully opposing numerous attempts to enjoin the expansion
  • Represented prominent mortgage lenders in successful defense of putative class actions challenging late fee practices
