Irina Tymczyszyn has been elected to partnership in the firm, effective 1 January 2012. She practises with the International Arbitration Team and Commercial Litigation Client Service Group. She chairs the firm’s CIS Group, which provides services to former Soviet Union clients, particularly those in Ukraine and Russia. She has considerable experience in cross-border disputes for major international clients with a main focus on disputes relating to shareholders' and investment agreements, disputes in the telecoms, oil and gas industries, and fraud. Ms. Tymczyszyn has acted in numerous international arbitrations as counsel and has sat on international arbitration tribunals under the ICC Rules as an arbitrator. She is fluent in English, Ukrainian and Russian and has a working knowledge of German, French and Polish.

  • Acting for a Canadian oil extraction corporation in an ICC arbitration against a large Russian oil conglomerate in a breach of consortium agreement dispute concerning an oil field in Kazakhstan
  • Acting for a Norwegian river cruises provider in an ad hoc (UNCITRAL Rules) arbitration against a US tour operator in a breach of charterparty dispute
  • Acting for a large French media conglomerate in a LCIA arbitration against a Polish telecom company in a breach of investment agreement dispute
  • Acting for a Canadian automotive design company on a breach of contract and breach of confidence claim obtaining a worldwide freezing injunction against a fraudulent contractor
  • Acting for a firm of architects in a LCIA Arbitration in a professional indemnity dispute regarding design of a major English racecourse
  • Acting for a Brazilian oil extraction company in a LCIA arbitration commenced by an US oil extraction equipment supplier in an alleged breach of teaming agreement dispute
