Gregory Trimarche serves as head of the Irvine office’s Commercial Litigation practice. He has broad trial experience, including jury trials, bench trials, arbitrations and administrative proceedings involving a wide range of federal, state and local regulatory agencies.
Most recently, Mr. Trimarche’s environmental and government affairs practices have focused heavily in the “clean tech” area, including but not limited to biofuels, alternative fuel vehicles, renewable energy facility siting and permitting, “smart grid” and other energy conservation matters. Mr. Trimarche works closely with the firm’s Government Contracts group to assist clean tech clients’ efforts to obtain “stimulus” grants, tax credits and other government incentives under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (“ARRA”) and other government programs.
He also has gained national recognition with his environmental practice in the “Brownfield” area - the cleanup, transfer and redevelopment of contaminated properties - with clients including some of the largest Brownfield developers, homebuilders, commercial developers and commercial/industrial property owners in California. Mr. Trimarche is co-author of one of the first authoritative treatises on the Brownfield industry (Brownfields: A Practical Guide to the Cleanup, Transfer, and Redevelopment of Contaminated Properties, Argent Communications, 1997). He also has represented parties in a wide range of regulatory compliance and environmental enforcement matters under the federal Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, CERCLA, RCRA and TSCA, and California’s Prop 65, Water Code and Hazardous Waste Control Law. In addition, he has extensive land use experience, including litigation and compliance under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). As former Chair of the State Bar of California’s Environmental Law Section, and a frequent lecturer at government, bar association and industry conferences throughout the western U.S., he is widely recognized as one of California’s leading environmental attorneys.
Mr. Trimarche’s litigation experience also includes a wide range of real estate, land use and construction matters; trade secrets and other intellectual property and technology-related matters; unfair business practices, breaches of fiduciary duty and other business torts; e-commerce, online publishing and other internet-related matters; and a variety of other commercial disputes.
