Esslinger Presents at C5’s International Forum on Export Controls

February 8, 2010

Global companies increasingly face multiple laws relating to the export of goods, software, technology and services. To help make sense of the complex requirements, London Partner Anita Esslinger will present at C5’s Fourth Annual Forum on Export Controls, Feb. 8 at Le Meridien Brussels Hotel in Brussels, Belgium.

Esslinger will discuss how to ensure proper classification when dual-use and military items coincide. She will outline how best to compare the classification process in the US versus EU; strategies for evaluating the line between dual-use and military goods and technology; new ITAR commodity jurisdiction guidance and its impact on dual-use items classification; and how to understand USMIL articles relating to the classification of civil platforms.

Esslinger regularly advises clients on international trade regulation issues such as those involving US, UK and European export controls and sanctions, foreign blocking regulations, US anti-boycott regulations, the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the OECD Convention and other corruption initiatives, foreign military sales, customs and competition law. She is a regular writer and speaker on matters related to international business.

C5’s annual forum brings together leading regulators, corporate export compliance executives and lawyers to discuss the latest issues in in-house compliance practices. Click here for more information on the conference.
