David Greene is senior counsel in the firm's San Francisco office. Before joining the firm, he served for over a decade as the executive director and lead staff counsel for First Amendment Project, a nonprofit organization providing direct, pro bono legal services on public interest free speech and free press matters. As lead staff counsel, Mr. Greene represented clients at both the trial and appellate levels, including bench trial experience in state and federal courts, and appellate advocacy before the California Supreme Court and Courts of Appeal, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. David is also an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law, teaching courses on First Amendment Law and the Law of Mass Communication and the Press, and an instructor in the Journalism Department at San Francisco State University. In the Spring of 2011, he was a visiting professor at East China University of Politics and Law in Shanghai.

Mr. Greene has written, lectured and published extensively on the issues of free expression and the arts and other areas of First Amendment Law. Additionally, he was a founding member of the Internet Free Expression Alliance.
