Courtney Stolz concentrates her practice in the firm’s financial institutions industry team.  Her primary areas of practice focus on banking, electronic commerce, and privacy.  She represents and advises bank and non-bank clients, money services businesses, high-technology, internet, telecommunications, retailers, and a variety or other businesses.  

Ms. Stolz’ clients include internet banks, as well as other premier financial services providers that rely on Internet or other non-traditional delivery channels.  She also advises clients on the state and federal laws and regulations governing electronic payments.  Ms. Stolz has extensive experience in domestic and global sourcing arrangements.

Her money transmission and regulatory practice includes advising clients on the legal requirements imposed under the money transmitter licensing laws, check casher laws, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Anti-Money Laundering Act and laws related to gift cards, prepaid cards, bill payment services and other funds transfers.
 
Ms. Stolz advises clients in the area of privacy, security and information management.  Her experience includes managing privacy and security risks related to the collection, use and disclosure of consumer personal information.  She assists clients in a variety of industries with conducting full-scale privacy assessments.  Her practice includes advising clients on all federal and state privacy and information management laws, including the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, HIPAA, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, state security breach notification laws, state data encryption laws, and other federal and state regulations.
 
Prior to joining the firm Ms. Stolz served as an Associate in the Atlanta offices of two large, international law firms.  Her practice focused on technology, privacy and information management.
 
Ms. Stolz also practiced as an international legal consultant for the corporate technology practice of a mid-sized New Zealand law firm.  Her experience included drafting and negotiating international technology agreements throughout the Pacific Rim, Asia, Middle East, Europe and North America.  She also prepared international sponsorship agreements for the America’s Cup Village in Auckland in association with the America’s Cup 2000 yacht race.

Her experience also includes serving as Counsel for a television and entertainment company in Atlanta, Ga.  She assessed contractual and intellectual property ownership rights for trademarks, copyrights, motion pictures, animated features, sports figures and other entertainment properties; negotiated international and domestic trademark and copyright licenses, clip and still licenses, merchandising agreements, promotions agreements, theme park and theme restaurant agreements, representation agreements and other entertainment agreements; and counseled retail operations with regard to legal issues in product development, animation development, distribution, sourcing, fulfillment, marketing, sales and product approval.
