Bruce Oetter has more than 30 years of litigation experience. He has handled a wide variety of complex commercial disputes, including numerous class actions in federal and state courts throughout the United States, derivative actions, multi-district litigation, regulatory investigations and enforcement proceedings, arbitration and mediation. Mr. Oetter has served as national coordinating counsel supervising the defense of several class and dozens of individual securities actions, arbitrations and investigations involving claims totaling almost $1 billion.
Mr. Oetter is leader of the firm’s risk management practice. As coverage counsel, he has represented numerous insureds that have recovered hundreds of millions of dollars on insurance claims under directors and officers, errors and omissions, comprehensive general liability, fidelity bonds, fiduciary, property and other policies. Mr. Oetter also represents insurance companies, particularly in defending consumer class actions. In addition, he has represented insurance brokers in defense of errors and omissions claims. He regularly counsels clients concerning insurance coverage and has drafted insurance policies. Mr. Oetter advises Boards of Directors on director protection, including directors and officers liability insurance and indemnification, and is a frequent speaker on directors and officers liability and other insurance topics. Mr. Oetter serves on the Board of Directors of a medical malpractice insurance company.
