City of Santa Monica, Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce and Sustainable Works 2009 Sustainable Quality Award

03/2009
Bryan Cave LLP’s Santa Monica office has been named a 2009 Sustainable Quality Award (SQA) Grand Prize Winner, making Bryan Cave the first law firm to receive this honor. The award recipients are listed on the Web site for the city of Santa Monica.

The SQAs are a joint effort by the city of Santa Monica, the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce and Sustainable Works for the purpose of recognizing businesses and organizations that implement sustainable practices in the natural and built environments, social responsibility and economic development. The award will be presented Wednesday, March 25, in a ceremony at the Sheraton Delfina Hotel in Santa Monica.

The Santa Monica office also became certified “green” by the Santa Monica Green Business Certification Program (SMGBC). Bryan Cave is the only law firm to receive this recognition to date. The SMGBC is a joint effort of the city of Santa Monica, the Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Chamber of Commerce and Sustainable Works for the purpose of recognizing green businesses in the community.

Both honors were awarded after an in-depth, year-long application process. This included lengthy interviews, office assessments including water and energy efficiency checks, constant communication with the organizations and essay questions. It also entailed implementing various changes based on suggestions by Sustainable Works in order to become a “greener” office.
